Autumn Weddings in Vancouver: Your Fall Mood Board
When the heat of summer dies down, you’re left with a sea of golden foliage, bright green grass, crisp and clear skies, and a trail of nature’s textures and frost. Oh, how I love cozy season! For the bride and groom who dislike the hot heat of the summer, the fall wedding is the perfect time to get married. You can still enjoy sunshine and nature’s colours while embracing the cold as you party into the night.
If you have a fall wedding coming up in Vancouver or the Lower Mainland, this post will serve as autumnal flower inspiration, including colour palettes and different seasonal flowers and foliage to use.
Fall Wedding Colour Palettes
Pink and Peach
If you love the pastel look, having a pop of pink or peach mixed in with the traditional whites and greens is a great option. It still leans fall, while feeling soft and romantic.

Yellow and Purple
Yellow and purple is a combination people don’t often think about, but I think it looks beautiful for a late summer or early fall wedding. It’s for the fun and colourful, especially for someone who loves sunflowers.
I’ve also seen a palette of plum and mauve, alongside cream and green. It makes for a moody, but unique fall colourscheme.

Pop of Red
Red is such a strong and powerful colour that it’s all you need to make a statement in your bouquet. This particular bouquet we used a complimentary blue to create a soft but beautiful contrast.

Full Warm Tones
I love it when a wedding leans fully into the fall spirit, including all the warm, dark sultry tones. This arrangement uses deep reds, rusty oranges, soft pinks, olive greens, and a pop of white to create the quintessential fall palette. And yes, pumpkins were in attendance at this wedding too!

Fall Flowers and Foliage
We’re lucky in Vancouver that we incredible access to both local and imported flowers. Even in the dead of winter, you can have a lush, colourful bouquet. But I can’t deny the quality and beauty of what’s local and in season! Fall foliage holds a special place in my heart thanks to the warm tones and textures.
These flowers, foliage, grasses, and seed pods are all going to make your autumnal wedding flowers picture-perfect.

Ornamental Berries
Ornamental berries are also in abundance this time of year, as the trees fruit and change their leaves. Here are some of the most popular:
- Ilex
- Hypericum
- Rosehips
- Snowberry
- Beautyberry
- Celastrus
Fall Foliage and Seed Pods
Arguably the best part about fall is the changing colour of the leaves. While some plants say goodbye to their foliage, others deepen and become more spectacular or hold onto their leaves a little longer than others. And then there are the seed pods. Some are even better than the flowers that came before them.
Here’s the foliage and seed pods I love best this time of year:
- Ninebark
- Curly willow
- Fir
- Cedar
- Smokebush
- Eucalyptus
- Oregano
- Cress
- Jewels of Opar
- Love in a mist seed pods
- Poppy pods
- Scabiosa pods
