Hannah & Jiven: The Joy of Designing My Sister’s Wedding

Hannah & Jiven: The Joy of Designing My Sister’s Wedding

I have the pleasure of going to many weddings as a florist. I get to see the joy of the faces of many beautiful brides, explore the most exquisite venues in the Lower Mainland, and experience the magic in the air when there’s so much excitement coming from those around me.

While I attend many weddings from the sidelines, it’s rare that I get to go as both the florist and a guest. Which is why my sister’s wedding was so special to me. It’s not every day you get to watch your sister walk down the aisle and share her vows with the love of her life.

Okay, things are getting cheesy here! But honestly, I want to talk a little bit about my sister Hannah’s wedding, the flowers I made for her, and show off these beautiful photos from her and Jiven’s wedding last September.

First off, I must tip my hat to Roberta McLean photography. I’ve known Roberta for a while now, and she’s one of my favourite family and wedding photographers. I’m always thrilled to be doing a project or event, so I was extra excited that she was doing the photos for Hannah and Jiven. You’ll see what I mean as you scroll through these photos!

I love when a wedding features a fun colour palette and allows me to really get creative with the flowers. For the flowers and wedding bouquet, Hannah wanted bright colours to honour the Indian culture. The wedding itself was such a beautiful blend of both families and backgrounds, which is really what weddings are all about: bringing two families together.

All in all, these flowers are a love letter to colour.

This has to be one of my favourite wedding arches I’ve done. I love the warm wood against the colourful, asymmetrical flowers. And this kiss photo with the bouquet placement!? Talk about editorial!

My sister and I love books, so this shot is a favourite for the both of us I’m sure! As you move along the bookcase, the book spines match the colours in the bouquet. And the dress is just swoon-worthy.

And to end it all, here’s a picture of Hannah and I. I’m so honoured she picked me to do her flowers. This was such a dream come true! I wish I could do it all over again!
